The facility is the small guesthouse of Valdibella, an organic farmers' cooperative that focuses on biodiversity and native crops. Casa delle pigne is located at the foot of the hill overlooking Camporeale, surrounded by a dense and lush pine forest.
It is a self-contained one-bedroom apartment that measures about 25 square meters; consisting of a living/dining area with kitchen, dining table and a sofa bed, a double bedroom and a small bathroom-it thus sleeps four. Behind the accommodation stretches the pine forest, in front of it a patio where you can have breakfast with the sounds of birds and cicadas playing in the background. Going up the slope you will instead find the Valdibella Winery, the Student House and Yellow House, and there will be another large clearing where you can turn your car around or park temporarily. The pine forest winds through small trails and the lookout over the Camporeale area. The entire surrounding wooded area is accessible to guests; only the structures used for wine production and offices are excluded. We recommend that you reach us by car, since vehicles pass by once or twice a day!
About the neighborhood
Camporeale is a town of just under 3,000 inhabitants in the province of Palermo, 440 m above sea level; it is a small agricultural center in the eastern part of the Mazara Valley. Tradition and folklore of the Camporeale people are interesting, with heartfelt festivals and processions and food dedicated to the miracles of the saints. Summer nightlife is full of music, and during the day it is possible to visit the many architectures, religious and civil, and the two archaeological sites. A chain of mountains protects the town's territory on all sides: the Rocca di Maranfusa, Montagnola, Serra Parrino, Cozzo di Curbici, and Mount Jato, the closest of all. Places of interest around here can be: San Giuseppe Jato at 17 km, from which it is possible to hike to Mt. Jato (852 m); Lake Poma at 15 km, an artificial lake also used in agriculture, surrounded by nature and very relaxing; Corleone at 30 km, which is located in an inland mountainous area, in which one can visit naturalistic destinations such as the Drago spring near the Ficuzza forest and the Cascata delle due rocche; Piana degli Albanesi 30 km away, where the most populous Albanian community in Italy has resided for centuries, where you can taste the delicious cannolo di ricotta crzza and visit the Portella della Ginestra, sadly remembered for the 1947 massacre; Borgo dei Parrini 32 km away, a rural hamlet within Partinico that can be visited in an hour or so, recently transformed into an eccentric corner with dwellings vaguely inspired by the style of Spanish architect Gaudí; Castellammare del Golfo 44 km away, on whose territory fall the Faraglioni of Scopello, the bay of Guidaloca, the Segestane Baths and the easternmost part of the Zingaro Oriented Nature Reserve; Alcamo 21 km away, home to the Bosco di Alcamo Nature Reserve, the sanctuary of Maria Santissima dell'Alto and the hamlet of Alcamo Marina, a resort area most frequented in the summer.
